Why being Passionate is Instrumental to Good Health
As a Naturopath I’m continually attending health seminars as part of my continuing education. These events run for several hours and consist largely of biochemistry and the latest developments in natural medicine and nutrition. While health seminars are always interesting, they require a lot of concentration and lots of reading from inch thick manuals which I take home for further study.
Last weekend I had the opportunity to attend a conference on investing. I assumed it would be a conservative affair with lots of information to digest.
Can you imagine my surprise, when I was greeted by a room full of happy, shiny people, music and dancing as part of the warm up to the event. In fact, each time I returned from a break I was encouraged to do some aerobics to get the blood pumping and to increase my concentration and memory retention.
It was so different from my usual medical seminars and went a long way towards compensating for the amount of sitting we were required to do.
But perhaps the most impressive part of the 4 day conference was the amount of self-development training I was given.
Your mindset affects every aspect of your life. From how well you do in your career to how healthy you are and everything in between.
Much of our health is a direct response to how we think. The MC for the event was suffering with an inflamed knee but he gave the most awe inspiring speech regardless. In fact, he later told us that the pain only returned after he had finished speaking.
He was so much in the moment, so enjoying what he was doing, that his mind literally blocked the pain signals out.
This says a lot about the power of the mind in response to ill health. Any illness will be prolonged by negative thought patterns. Doing something you love to do is a very powerful panacea to today’s ills.
